The roadshow, which first took place in 1912, is a pivotal part of film history. It gave filmmakers the opportunity to take their films to different movie theaters across the country and connect with audiences outside their region. Many iconic movies throughout history were part of a promotional roadshow: Gone with the Wind, Ben-Hur, Lawrence of Arabia, 2001: A Space Odyssey. More elevated than a traditional screening, the roadshow allowed audiences to connect with filmmakers, learn more about how a movie was made, and create a special evening engaging with the craft of cinema. We're thrilled to welcome a modern-day roadshow to the Cinema Art Theater on Saturday, May 9! No Fun Films, an independent film collective based in Richmond, Virginia, is touring its newest short films after a sold-out premiere in Richmond. This one-night-only screening includes a screening of two short films, " Stain " and " The Soul Dies After Midnight ", a presentation of music videos by the filmmakers, and a post-screening Q&A with Mikey Stough (writer and director of "The Soul Dies After Midnight"), Tahjee Wallace (director of "Stain"), and Carlos Julio Reyes (writer and producer of "Stain"). Take part in a cinematic tradition and support the next generation of filmmakers with this special event! Stain Directed by Tahjee Wallace, Written by Carlos Julio Reyes and Mikey Stough Initially released in 2026, "Stain" is a crime drama that follows a young couple living in poverty, forced into a robbery to survive. With original music by Grammy-nominated producer DJ Harrison, Ducttape Jesus, and overunderdog, "Stain" was filmed in Richmond, Virginia, and features musicians, first-time actors, and guerrilla location filmmaking to capture the realism and grit of both the story and the real people and places that inspired it. The Soul Dies After Midnight Written and Directed by Mikey Stough Released in 2025, "The Soul Dies After Midnight" is a surrealist, silent black-and-white horror film. In the moment of her murder, a young woman travels through the infinite deaths inside her soul. Featuring an original score by experimental metal band Bodied, "The Soul Dies After Midnight" was initially screened in Washington DC and Baltimore, Maryland, with live accompaniment by the band.
