Through firsthand sources\, this deeply moving piece details the true story of a small American town and its response to a fatal tragedy that sparked national controversy. The voices of neighbors\, friends\, clergy members\, law enforcement officers\, and other residents paint a moving portrait of a community facing difficult questions while striving to hold onto its shared values.
