Cedar Jack-O’-Lantern Make & Take Saturday, September 26 • 10:00 AM–1:00 PM Delmarva Makerspace – Salisbury, MD $45 Public (Members sign in for your DISCOUNT) Limited to 8 participants Start with a cedar fence picket and leave with your own handmade, lighted wooden Jack-O’-Lantern! Join us at Delmarva Makerspace for a hands-on woodworking Make & Take where you’ll actually build your Jack-O’-Lantern from the lumber up. No previous woodworking experience is necessary – we’ll guide you through the process and introduce you to the tools you’ll be using along the way. What You’ll Do Choose your cedar Select your own cedar fence picket and lay out the pieces for your lantern. Measure & cut your project After safety and tool-use instruction, you’ll cut the cedar pieces needed to build your lantern. Choose your face Pick your favorite Jack-O’-Lantern face from our selection of designs. Watch the CNC bring it to life See the Makerspace CNC router carve your selected face into your lantern. Assemble your lantern After pneumatic-tool safety instruction, you’ll use our tools to assemble your project. Light it up! Your project includes a battery-powered LED light so your Jack-O’-Lantern is ready to display when you get home. Everything Is Included Your registration includes: • Cedar and all project materials • Your choice of Jack-O’-Lantern face • CNC carving • Use of Makerspace tools and equipment • Safety and tool-use instruction • Battery-powered LED light • Illustrated project instructions • Help from Delmarva Makerspace volunteers You’ll leave with a completed cedar Jack-O’-Lantern that you built yourself and can bring out for Halloween year after year. Leave the natural cedar unfinished for a rustic look, or take it home and paint, stain, distress, or decorate it however you’d like. Only 8 spots are available. Advance registration is required. No experience necessary. Come make some sawdust and take home something awesome for Halloween! 🎃 For safety, the finished lantern is intended for battery-powered LED lighting only.
