Your local arthouse cinema is once again participating in this annual event\, which takes place all day on July 30th! Join us for a line-up of fun\, uplifting\, and joyful movies that will take place in our Main theater throughout the day! In addition to the CAT This Week titles that will be playing in the Jems\, our AHTD slate features the Car Wash - 1:00pm Part of the Art House Convergence's official AHTD programme. This day-in-the-life cult comedy focuses on a group of friends working at Sully Boyar's Car Wash in the Los Angeles ghetto. The team meets dozens of eccentric customers -- including a smooth-talking preacher\, a wacky cab driver and an ex-convict -- while cracking politically incorrect jokes to a constant soundtrack of disco and funk. Some of the workers find romance as the day moves along\, but most are just happy to get through another shift. Fast Times at Ridgemont High - 4:00pm Part of the High School Drama film series! Based on the real-life adventures chronicled by Cameron Crowe\, Fast Times follows a group of high school students growing up in Southern California. Stacy Hamilton and Mark Ratner are looking for love\, and are helped along by their older classmates\, Linda Barrett and Mike Damone. Jeff Spicoli\, a perpetually stoned surfer faces-off with the resolute teacher\, Mr. Hand. Hilarity and heartbreak ensue. Out of - 6:00pm 10th Anniversary Special! A documentary exploring the importance of revival cinema and 35mm exhibition - seen through the lens of the patrons of the New Beverly Cinema - a unique and independent revival cinema in Los Angeles. Out of is a love letter to watching movies on film\, in independent cinemas\, with an audience. The documentary features Los Angeles’ iconic New Beverly Cinema and London’s legendary Prince Charles Cinema as stand-ins for the extraordinary movie houses around the globe that keep cinema's rich culture alive. The film includes interviews with Kevin Smith\, Edgar Wright\, Rian Johnson\, Stuart Gordon\, Joe Dante\, Tom Holland\, Mark Romanek\, John Landis\, Lloyd Kaufman\, Joe Carnahan\, Fred Dekker\, Richard Kelly\, Seth Green\, Patton Oswalt\, and more—all reflecting on why movies\, and the places we watch them\, still matter.
