Join us for "Freestyle Oil Pastels" sessions, Sunday mornings , July 5 and July 19 during Open Studio hours at 9s Studios! An open studio experience to slow down, explore, and paint freely. This Spring / Summer, join us for our ongoing exploration series during open studio hours at 9S. This is a freestyle session designed for ease, creativity, and exploration. Every month offers an opportunity to explore different painting mediums, materials, and techniques in a relaxed and welcoming environment. No experience is needed and there’s no pressure to keep up or create something “perfect". Come to: Experiment with different mediums Create at your own pace/ Low pressure Receive light guidance Reconnect with creativity in a fun setting Paint freely Whether you’re a beginner, returning to art after time away, or simply looking for a softer creative experience, this 3 hour open studio freestyle exploration session is not a traditional guided workshop. It is for those who want to explore without pressure... and with a little music to set the vibes! Name: "Freestyle Open Studio: Exploration Series" Explore with Oil Pastels: Two session for kids and Adults Two dates: 1) "Kids Freestyle Oil Pastels" - Sunday, July 5, 2026 | Ages: 5 + 2) "Adults Freestyle Oil Pastels/ Still life" - Sunday, July 19, 2026 | Ages: 16+ Open studio hours: 11am- 2pm | Duration: 3 hours Session Description: Children will create their own abstract oil pastel artwork, exploring shapes, colors, blending, and smudging techniques through open-ended creative expression. Adults will create a still-life oil pastel drawing inspired by a display of fruits and flowers arranged at the center of the table. Participants will have the opportunity to explore light, shadow, color layering, and blending techniques at their own pace. A variety of materials will be provided to encourage experimentation and individual artistic expression. Here's what to expect: Each participant will have access to oil pastels, paper or canvas board and various materials that are specific to the theme of the freestyle session 3 hours to explore and create at your own pace (during open studio hours) No pressure w/ light guidance Bring your own snacks ( PEANUT FREE) NO experience needed. Just explore at your own pace and have fun! Please Note: This Open Studio session is 3 hours long. You must register in advance to participate. If we are not at capacity, we will accept walk-ins. Please be sure to arrive within the 3 hour window to allow enough time to explore and create!
